Another iteration of the Introduction to the International CBRN Training Curriculum Course was organized by the Joint CBRN Defence Centre of Excellence (under NATO Civil Emergency Planning Committee) from 20 to 24 April 2015.

The aim was to ensure that CBRN first responders have a common knowledge base and a minimum level of preparedness when responding to CBRN incidents. Such training was designed to assist nations to improve their civil emergency plans, complement national training systems and improve co-operation between CBRN first responders.

The group of 11 students from NATO and partner countries was diverse in nationalities, ranks, organizations… They were members of armed forces, ministries of interior, defence and emergency services, medical service etc.

The course included theoretical briefings and equipment demonstrations at the COE and practical training in the Training Centre of Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic in Brno. The firefighters organized practical training (individual protective equipment, detection, sampling, decontamination) and two exercises (traffic accident with chemical spill & illegal transportation of radiological material).

The Course was evaluated by students as very useful course with great value for their current job. Next iteration is planned for 18-22 April 2016.
